SCHEDULE YOUR POOL OPENING ONLINE

*A CONFIRMATION DATE will be emailed to you the Friday prior to the opening requested week*

Please note that, although we do our best to accommodate all requests, some openings may need to move because of various reasons such as - weather conditions, location, and/or too many bookings requested in one given week. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proximity to our customer base, we are unable to take any specific day or time requests.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR OPENING

Before our arrival, we ask that:

  • Equipment and pool are accessible (i.e. gates unlocked, etc.)

  • The pool water level is halfway up the skimmer face plate/opening

  • Any inside electric breakers are on

  • Ladders, handrails, etc. are on the deck.

*Please note that pool openings are based on a single trip. If your pool is not ready and/or if an additional trip is required, there will be a trip charge for the return.

WHAT IS INCLUDED WITH YOUR POOL OPENING

A basic pool opening includes the following:

  • Removal and folding of the winter cover if applicable (cover will be folded and left in the pool area)

  • Equipment start-up

  • Treatment of pool and/or spa with shock and metal remover only

  • 10 minutes of light debris removal

IMPORTANT!!

After 3-4 days when water begins to clear it is the homeowner's responsibility to then test the water and balance their chemicals. CHP will not return to add more chemicals or do any additional cleaning. If you are uncomfortable doing this, please call a local pool service company for assistance.

BASIC POOL MAINTENANCE TASKS TO DO AFTER OPENING

  1. Maintain your water level at the mid-skimmer opening

  2. Clean your skimmer basket regularly

  3. Clean your pump basket regularly

  4. Run pump 24 hours daily until the water begins to clear

  5. Clean filters once the water clears

TIPS, TRICKS & HELPFUL INFORMATION

  • Homeowners do not need to be present for the opening.

  • Schedule your opening a few weeks before you plan on using your pool as it can take several days to clear up & then several additional days to then balance the chemicals.

  • If you run your pump 24/7 for the first few days after the opening your pool will clean up more quicker! Be sure to put your timer back on afterward and don’t allow the water level to drop below the skimmer either.

  • Invest in phosphate remover - you will need it! In New England, we have high levels of airborne organics (pollen, lawn chemicals, etc.) that will affect your pool water chemistry. When phosphate remover is added to the water, it encourages this material to stick to the cartridge filters vs circulating back into the pool. Be sure to clean your filters often after adding them.

  • It is a good idea to replace your filter cartridges every two or three seasons. Some customers choose to use an older set at the beginning of the season while the pool is in the initial start-up phase and then use their newest set for the season. Filters can easily be purchased online on Amazon and other retailers.

  •  The lesson that CHP provides for all new pool owners is for use of the equipment and basic maintenance - it is not for pool openings or closings. There are many instructional videos that can be found on YouTube if you are interested in learning more. If you have not received your included lesson, please contact the office - lessons cannot be scheduled or performed at the same time as an opening or closing.

  • Homeowners should have a submersible pump with a garden hose attachment for when the pool fills above the operating level (i.e. over the top of the skimmer opening). We suggest placing the pump on the first step of the pool to prohibit over-pumping water out of the pool.

  • If you are in need of weekly/bi-weekly maintenance, we suggest finding someone in your general area (via Google) to perform this service. Anyone outside of a 20-mile radius typically will charge additional travel charges on top of the maintenance itself.

  • NOTE: If you are a pool owner on the South Shore, Cape Cod, or Metro West and need future maintenance, openings, or closings, please call the office at 781-826-6886 for referrals to companies we recommend in our area.

  • All auto cover warranties and/or maintenance work needs to be scheduled by Ellis Pool Covers. Please contact them at 508-746-1701

  • Any salt chlorination system, pump, automation, or heater warranty work needs to be scheduled with a Hayward Certified Technician Hayward | Dealer Locator (hayward-pool.com)
