If you have a Hayward SwimClear pool filter, you need to clean it regularly to keep your pool water clear and healthy. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Turn off the pool pump and filter system and release the pressure from the filter by opening the air relief valve on top of the filter tank.
2. Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the filter tank and let the water drain out.
Loosen the clamp that holds the filter tank together and lift off the top half of the tank.
Carefully pull out the four cartridge elements from the bottom half of the tank and rinse them with a garden hose, using a nozzle attachment to spray off any dirt or debris.
If the cartridges are very dirty, you can soak them in a solution of water and trisodium phosphate (TSP) for a few hours, then rinse them again.
You can also use a muriatic acid solution to remove any calcium deposits or stains from the cartridges, but make sure to wear protective gloves and goggles and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
After cleaning the cartridges, inspect them for any tears or damage and replace them if necessary.
Clean and rinse the inside of the filter tank with a hose and wipe off any dirt or residue.
Apply some lubricant to the o-ring on the top half of the tank and place it back over the bottom half, making sure they are aligned properly.
Tighten the clamp around the tank and secure it with a bolt.
Reinstall the drain plug and close the air relief valve.
Turn on the pool pump and filter system and check for any leaks or signs of malfunction.
You have successfully cleaned your Hayward SwimClear pool filter. You should do this at least twice a year or more often if your pool gets a lot of use or is exposed to harsh weather conditions.
