Most pool openings take about 1-1.5 hours and consist of taking the cover off of the pool and setting that to the side (homeowner needs to store), starting the pool pump, installing jets (if applicable), adding some chemicals, and a very light brushing of the walls. The pool water will most likely be dirty from the winter and will take some time before it clears up (1-2 weeks potentially). Clearing the water is a process and will take consistent monitoring to achieve. It is important to note that after the initial opening, it is now the responsibility of the homeowner to take over the water chemistry and maintenance. If you are not inclined to or do not have the knowledge or time to do this, you should hire a pool maintenance service company to do it for you until you feel comfortable taking over.
